7 Mistakes People Make That Prevent Christian Spiritual Growth

You have no Spiritual Development Plan 

Ever Heard the Statement "If fail to plan you plan to fail" Well it is true for Spiritual growth too. Most Christians never set put a plan for their growth in the thing of the LORD. as a result, many Christians never seem to grow past that initial conversion experience. They also tend to become frustrated when the see others experiencing icredible transformation and even miraculous changes happening. 

You have no Bible Reading Plan

As with the above statement without a bible reading plan people tend to read occasionally, or ad-hoc. Without a well define Bible reading plan people fail to get a better understanding of who GOD is. when you don't know someone it makes it very difficult to relate to them. Relationship is what GOD created you for.

You have poor and/or irregular communications with GOD

Never learning how to pray, and of course just not praying and communicating with GOD on a regular basis is one of the biggest mistakes Christians make.  We often put too much trust in our own abilities and forget to involve GOD in everything we are doing. God created us for Relationship with him, if we are not doing that we are missing the very purpose of our creation in the first place. Ultimately Prayer is also where Christians are empowered by the LORD to be able to do the things we believe that we cannot do. 

You have no one that holds you accountable for your spiritual growth and development.

Because you have never established a position of being accountable to a mentor, group of believers, or even your closest friend, you have no accountability for taking action to grow. Therefore when you drop the ball noone is ther to call youi up on it. Of course the enemy really loves it when we drop the ball and just don't do what we believe GOD is leading us to do.

You don't want to step out of your comfort zone

People get comfortable with their current situation and surroundings, they just don't want to change. Change is risky and makes people nervous. However, I must declare discomfort always precedes success. just ask any professional sports person who has won a gold medal if there was some discomfort involved in getting there. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 -(Para-phrase) Do you not know that those running in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? So run, that you may obtain the prize. And everyone who strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Those of the world work so hard that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we so we can receive an incorruptible crown. So then I run, not as if I were uncertain. So I fight, not as one who is shadow boxing the air. But I work hard my body and keep it under control, lest proclaiming to others I myself might be rejected. So everyone just be aware that discomfort precedes success in everything.

You have limited experiences with the power of the Holy Spirit working in your life.

It is not uncommon for people young in their faith or having grown up in a church environment where ther has been resistance to the moving of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers, to have an element of fear or reluctance to open yourself up to that kind of experience. 

You lack of confidence sharing the good news about Jesus Christ with others

 Lack of confidence usually comes from lack of practice. When a person learning to drive a car the usually drive slower than the speed limit and take a long time to manuver adjust to the distance and speed of other vehicles on the roads. However, as they get more practice they be more confident and over time driving becomes like second nature to them. this is the same with Christians, those who practice sharing their faith become more and more comfortable with it and eventually it feel like second nature to them .
